By the Associated Press
Friday, November 21, 2003

This article is about a nationwide crackdown on Internet crime in the
states that lead to more than 125 people suspected of such crimes as
hacking, stealing identities and other Internet crime being charged.
This investigation has been called "Operation Cyber Sweep," and it has
uncovered approximately 125,000 victims of Internet crime with a total
in losses over 100 million dollars just in the past several months. The
number of 125 charged is intended to continue to grow as the operation

In the article "125 charged in Cyber Sweep," cyber crime has definatley
increased to a substantial number. Articles such as these should be
used to alert the public that there is a major issue in the cyber world,
and preventions must be taken to aviod greater lost - economically and
soicially. For many, they are still unaware of the danger the internet
poses - but for those who are aware - they know the damage cyber crimes
can create.

Hey Kristy, I find it unbelievable that so many people would be so
devious and actually Steal other people's identities. I mean, how would
they feel if someone stole their identity?? I'm getting mad. =/ I don't
think that cybercrime is considered as bad as it should be. This world
is getting very high tech, so the crimes too, are following this trend.
I don't know. Hopefully, the FBI and secret services will come up with a
master plan to deal with these types of crimes and ways of punishing
those that commit them. Then, they should send their knowledge
Northward to us. =)
Hope you do great on your exams!
